Many
POS terminals, remote sensing, industrial control LANs,
time-keeping, door access, HVAC, building automation systems,
security systems and other equipments uses the industry proven
RS232, RS422 and RS485 cabling for their control and data transfer
to and from their host control terminals or host computers. In
non-EMI sensitive applications, the new class of wireless adapters
developed by Golf Electronics Corporation provides the necessary
connectivity without the need for laying new cable harnesses which
often times presents major problems in mobility, relocation and
expansion. Though most commercial and industrial establishments
today have provisions for auxiliary electronics and communications
systems upon their construction, usually leased spaces still
present some structural limitations preventing relocation and
expansion of equipment and systems which use the RS232, RS422 and
RS485 standards for their interface.
Employing the “Plug and Pair” technology which allows seamless
wireless connectivity between multiple HID's, the same wireless
technology is now available for RS232, RS422 and RS485 cabled or
wired equipments easily converting them to wireless for their data
communication in industrial applications. Another advantage is its
multi-channel capability without the crosstalk between channels or
interference.

These new class of wireless adapters
operates in the 2.4 Ghz ISM band using advanced spread-spectrum RF
technology guaranteeing interference free and faithful
co-existence with WiFi and other wireless systems. They are
available as plastic molded adapters with a DB9 connector, or in
module form or as an OEM / ODM service by Golf Electronics for
manufacturers or systems integrators who may want to include the
circuit on the equipment PCB by providing them technical support
and consultancy for a reasonable cost.
The RS232 wireless adapter supports
common baud rates of 300 baud to 230K baud. The RS422 / RS485
wireless adapter supports 115kbps, 500kbps up to 2Mbps data rates.
Communications can be configured for half duplex or full duplex
applications. Baud rates can also be configured to suit the
particular requirement or application the same as in wired
systems. On the host side, the default master adapter is a USB
dongle which connects to three wireless serial channels and two
human interface devices such as a wireless keyboard and mouse.
However, OEM's or ODM's can opt to use RS232, RS422 and RS485
specially for existing industrial terminals or control panels.
